An orthography(علم الإملاء) is a set of instruments for how to write a language. It includes rules of spelling, hyphenation, capitalization, word breaks, emphasis, and punctuation.
Most important languages in the modern age are written down, and for most such languages a standard orthography has developed, often based on a standard variety of the language, and thus exhibiting less dialect variation than the spoken language.
In this paper, we have deliberated a few rules of orthography which have been described by a famous scholar in 8th Century A.D and his name is Salah-ud-Din Khalil Bin Aibak Al-Safdi. He has discussed these rules in his famous book named Al-waafi bil wafiyyat regarding Arabic Language. He has discussed the rules not only for single words but also for compound words.
